Press Information Bureau (PIB) releases news related to the policies, programmes, initiatives and achievements of the Government of India. An increase of 3% over the existing rate of 28% of the Basic Pay / Pension
- The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.7.2021 representing an increase of 3% over the existing rate of 28% of the Basic Pay / Pension, to compensate for price rise.
- The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs.9,488.70 crore per annum.
Cabinet approval sets the implementation of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) in motion
The PM GatiShakti NMP will be monitored in a three-tier system. An Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGoS) headed by Cabinet Secretary at the top, Network Planning Group (NPG) and Technical Support Unit (TSU) with required technical competencies.
EGOS will be headed by Cabinet Secretary and will consist of Secretaries of 18 Ministries as members and Head of Logistics Division as Member Convenor.
- The EGOS has been mandated to review and monitor implementation of the PM GatiShakti NMP to ensure logistics efficiency
CCEA has also approved formation, composition and terms of reference for Network Planning Group (NPG) consisting of heads of Network Planning wing of respective infrastructure ministries and it will assist the EGOS.
Further, in view of the complexities involved in overall integration of networks, enhancing optimization to avoid duplication of works for holistic development of any region as well as reducing logistics costs through micro-plan detailing, the Technical Support Unit (TSU) is approved for providing the required competencies
- TSU shall have domain experts from various infrastructure sectors as Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport, Rail, Roads & Highways, Ports, etc. and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as Urban & Transport Planning, Structures (Roads, Bridges & Buildings), Power, Pipeline, GIS, ICT, Finance/Market PPP, logistics, Data Analytics, etc.
PM Gati Shakti - National Master Plan for Multi Modal connectivity
Aim: To ensure integrated planning and implementation of infrastructure projects in the next four years, with focus on expediting works on the ground, saving costs and creating jobs.
- The Gati Shakti digital platform, which will bring together 16 Ministries including Rail and Roadways, will help in removing long-standing issues
- According to a study, the logistical cost in India is about 13% of GDP, which is higher than developed countries.
- The Gati Shakti scheme will subsume the Rs 111 lakh crore National Infrastructure Pipeline that was launched in 2019.
- It also aims to have 11 industrial corridors and two new defence corridors - one in Tamil Nadu and other in Uttar Pradesh
- Extending 4G connectivity to all villages is another aim. Adding 17,000 kms to the gas pipeline network is being planned.
- It will help in fulfilling the ambitious targets set by the government for 2024-25, including expanding the length of the national highway network to 2 lakh kms, creation of more than 200 new airports, heliports and water aerodromes.
India Internet Governance Forum to be conducted in November,2021 to bring all stakeholders of internet governance on a single platform
The curtain raiser event, is precursor to India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF), which will be conducted jointly by Ministry of Electronics and IT, NIXI and Multistake holder Group from 8th to 11th of November, 2021.The theme of IIGF 2021 is ‘Empower India through Power of Internet’.
- The India Internet Government Forum is an initiative associated with the UN Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF). The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing representatives together from various groups to discuss public policy issues related to the Internet.
Through an open and inclusive process, IIGF brings together all stakeholders in the Global Internet governance ecosystem, including government, industry, civil society, academia - as equal participants of the larger Internet Governance discourse.
Launch of NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission Digi-Book Innovations for You Sector in Focus – Health Care
- NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has launched – “Innovations for You” an attempt to showcase the success stories of Atal Innovation Mission’s Startups in different domains
