PM inaugurates the Defence Offices Complexes at Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Africa Avenue in New Delhi

  • The Prime Minister said that these defense office complexes are the manifestation of changing work culture and priorities of the government.
  • The Prime Minister also highlighted that in next 25 years i.e. ‘Azadi ka Amrit Kaal’ productivity and efficiency of the government system will be supported by such efforts. 

Quality Council of India (QCI) launches Prof. S.K. Joshi Laboratory Excellence Award

  • This is country’s first-of-its- kind Laboratory Excellence Award. This Award has been instituted to promote Laboratory Quality and performance improvement in the country. 
  • The award has been incepted to ensure the laboratory’s commitment to achieve excellence in providing high precision testing and calibration services in line with the prevalent national/international quality systems legislations, including Health, Safety & Environment
  • Late Prof. S.K. Joshi was a luminary in the field of Science and Academica. Prof. Joshi made a significant contribution in improving scientific research in India

MoD constitutes High Level Expert Committee for a comprehensive review of NCC

  • Ministry of Defence has constituted a High Level Expert Committee, under the chairmanship of former Member of Parliament Shri Baijayant Panda, for a comprehensive review of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in order to make it more relevant in changed times.
  • Cricketer MS Dhoni, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, Principal Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Prof. Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia and Shri Rituraj Sinha, MD, SIS India Limited are among the members
  • Committee to suggest measures to empower NCC cadets to contribute more effectively towards nation building
  • The NCC is the largest uniformed organisation which aims at developing character, discipline, a secular outlook and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens

Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Rajeev Chandrashekhar inaugurated 5 NIELIT Centers

  • The centres are at 5 locations in 3 states  Imphal, Churachandpur in Manipur, Aizawl in Mizoram, Kokrajhar and  Tezpur in  Assam, and were linked electronically for inauguration.
  • National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT),(erstwhile DOEACC Society), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (IECT).

India observes the 27th Global Ozone Day

  • World Ozone Day is celebrated on 16th September each year to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol, an international environmental treaty for phasing out of production and consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances, that came into force on this day in 1987
  • The Ozone Cell, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India has been celebrating the World Ozone Day since 1995 at the National and State levels.
  • The theme World Ozone Day 2021 is “Montreal Protocol - Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool”.
  • The India cooling action plan (ICAP), the first of its kind in the world to be developed by the MoEF&CC, addresses cooling requirement across sectors and lists out actions which can help reduce the cooling demand through synergies in actions for securing both environmental and socio-economic benefits. 

PFC issues India’s first-ever Euro Green Bond

  • Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC), the leading NBFC in power sector, has successfully issued its maiden Euro 300 million 7-year Euro Bond issuance on 13.09.2021.
  • It is the first ever Euro denominated Green bond issuance from India. Moreover, it is the first ever Euro issuance by an Indian NBFC and the first Euro bond issuance from India since 2017.

A new method developed to convert poultry feather & wool waste to animal feed & fertilizer

  • Indian scientists have developed a new sustainable and affordable solution for converting keratin waste such as human hair, wool, and poultry feathers to fertilizers, pet, and animal feeds
  • India generates a huge amount of human hair, poultry feather waste, and wool waste each year.
  • These wastes are inexpensive sources of amino acids and protein, underlining their potential to be used as animal feed and fertilizer.
  • Professor A. B. Pandit, Vice-Chancellor, Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai, along with his students, has developed a technology to covert the keratin waste to food for pets and fertilizers for plants.

‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ for Divyangjan and Senior Citizens

  • A ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ for distribution of aids and assistive devices to ‘Divyangjan’ under the ADIP Scheme and to Senior Citizens under the ‘Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana’ of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India will be organized by ALIMCO which is a Public Sector Enterprise under Administrative control of Department of Empowerment of Person with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Govt. of India on 17.09.2021 at Golden Palace, Sarojini Nagar, Kanpur.

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) NITI Aayog in partnership with Dassault Systèmes’ is all set to rave up the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem across the country.

  • Under this SoI, Dassault Systèmes will support and promote AIM beneficiaries including Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs), AIM incubators (AICs and EICs), Atal Community Innovation Centres (ACIC), grantees under Atal New India Challenge (ANIC), and Atal Research & Innovation for Small Enterprise (ARISE).
  • This initiative will open a new window for select Indian startups as they get access to the Dassault Systèmes global start up ecosystem- their accelerator program and a chance to connect with peers, industry experts, engineers, designers and be a part of the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab
