Seychelles’ Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB) programme launched in partnership with India
Tax Inspectors Without Borders (TIWB), a joint initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), launched its programme in Seychelles on 4th October, 2021
This programme is expected to be of 12 months duration during which India, in collaboration with the TIWB Secretariat and support of the UNDP Country Office in Mauritius and Seychelles, aims to aid Seychelles in strengthening its tax administration by transferring technical know-how and skills to its tax auditors through sharing of best audit practices.
- India was chosen as the Partner Administration and has provided Tax Expert for this programme.
- This programme is the sixth TIWB programme which India has supported by providing Tax Expert.
Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare launches i-Drone, ICMR’s drone-based vaccine delivery model
This is for the first time that a "Make in India' drone has been used in South Asia to transport COVID vaccine over an aerial distance of 15 kms in 12-15 mins from the Bishnupur district hospital to Loktak lake, Karang island in Manipur for administration at the PHC. The actual road distance between these locations is 26 k.m.
ICMR conducted an initial study in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to test the capacity of drones to carry and transfer vaccines safely.
- Currently, the drone based delivery project has been granted permission for implementation in Manipur and Nagaland, as well as union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Island.
Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt (CGSSD) extended upto 31.03.2022
The Government announced creation of ‘Distressed Assets Fund- - Subordinate Debt for Stressed MSMEs’ on 13th May, 2020, under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package.
Accordingly, a scheme viz. ‘Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt’ was approved by the Government on 1st June, 2020 and the scheme was launched on 24th June, 2020 to provide credit facility through lending institutions to the promoters of stressed MSMEs viz. SMA-2 and NPA accounts who are eligible for restructuring as per RBI guidelines on the books of the Lending institutions.
Purpose of the Scheme
The objective of the scheme is to provide personal loan through banks to the promoters of stressed MSMEs for infusion as equity / quasi equity in the business eligible for restructuring, as per RBI guidelines for restructuring of stressed MSME advances.
90% guarantee coverage would come from scheme/ Trust (CGTMSE) and remaining 10% from the concerned promoter(s).
The Scheme would be applicable to all credit facilities sanctioned under CGSSD for a maximum period of 10 years from the guarantee availment date or March 31, 2021 whichever is earlier, or till an amount of Rs 20,000 crore of guarantee amount is approved.
Eligibility Criteria of Borrower
It is applicable for those MSMEs whose accounts have been standard as on 31.03.2018 and have been in regular operations, either as standard accounts, or as NPA accounts during financial year 2018-19 and financial year 2019-20.
Personal loan will be provided to the promoters of the MSME units. The MSME itself may be Proprietorship, Partnership, Private Limited Company or registered company etc.
It is valid for MSME units which are stressed, viz. SMA-2 and NPA accounts as on 30.04.2020 that are eligible for restructuring as per RBI guidelines on the books of the Lending institutions.
Quantum of Finance: Promoter(s) of the MSME unit will be given credit equal to 15 % of his/her stake (equity plus debt) in the MSME entity or Rs.75 lakh whichever is lower as per last audited Balanced Sheet.
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology 2021
It was first awarded in 1958. Any citizen of India engaged in research in any field of science and technology up to the age of 45 years is eligible for the prize.
Bhatnagar Award, each of the value of Rupees five lakh, are awarded annually for notable and outstanding research, applied or fundamental, in various science, engineering and technology department.
This year Total 11 Awards were given in various field, few of them are below
- Dr. Jeemon Panniyammakal, Assistant Professor in SCTIMST, Trivandrum wins for his exemplary research work and research leadership in India in the field of chronic disease epidemiology, complex public health interventions and quality improvement initiatives.
- Professor T Govindaraju from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research wins Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for ground-breaking discoveries for treatment of Alzheimer’s and lung cancer
- Professor Kanishka Biswas from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research developing innovative strategies to make high-performance thermo-electrics materials wins Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize
