PM to deliver video address at ‘Global Citizen Live’ on 25th September

  • Global Citizen is an international education and advocacy organization working to catalyze the movement to end extreme poverty. 

Scheme for “Promotion of Medical Device Parks”, a key initiative to support the medical devices, notified

  • With Financial Outlay of Rs. 400 crore, the Scheme aims to significantly reduce manufacturing cost, optimize resources, build on economies of scale and provide easy access to standard testing and infrastructure facilities
  • Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh given “in-principle” approval to set-up Medical Device Parks under the scheme
  • The total financial outlay of the scheme is Rs. 400 crore and the tenure of the scheme is from FY 2020-2021 to FY 2024-2025.
  • The financial assistance to a selected Medical Device Park would be 70% of the project cost of common infrastructure facilities. In case of North Eastern States and Hilly States, financial assistance would be 90% of the project cost. Maximum assistance under the scheme for one Medical Device Park would be limited to Rs. 100 crores.

MoD signs contract with Airbus Defense & Space, Spain for acquisition of 56 C-295MW transport aircraft for IAF worth Rs. 22000 Crore

  • It is a transport aircraft of 5-10 tonne capacity with contemporary technology that will replace the ageing Avro transport aircraft of IAF. 
  • Out of 56, forty aircraft will be manufactured in India by TATA Consortium. All the deliveries will be completed within ten years of signing of the contract

Government Notifies PLI Scheme for Automobile & Auto components

  • The scheme for Automobile and auto components will be implemented over a period of five years starting from FY 2022-2023.
  • PLI Scheme for Automobile and Auto Components Industry will lead to fresh investments of over Rs 42,500 crores, incremental production of over Rs 2.3 lakh crore and will create additional employment opportunities of over 7.5 lakh jobs. 
  • An approved applicant shall be eligible for benefits for 5 consecutive Financial Years.
  • Financial Year 2019-20 shall be treated as the Base Year for calculation of Eligible sales.
  • The Union Cabinet on 15th Sep approved a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme with a budgetary outlay of Rs 25,938 crore to boost domestic manufacturing capabilities of the automobile industry, including electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
