Ministry of Education forms a 12 member National Steering Committee for the Development of National Curriculum Frameworks under K Kasturirangan.
- Other members Include: Mahesh Chandra Pant (Present Chancellor of NIEPA), Govind Prasad Sharma (Chairman of the National Book Trust), Najma Akhtar (Vice-Chancellor, JMU) among others.
- As per the perspectives of the NEP 2020, the Committee will develop four National Curriculum Frameworks- i.e., the National Curriculum Framework for School Education, National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education, National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education and National Curriculum Framework for Adult Education.
Two more Indian Beaches get coveted International Blue Flag Certification
- International eco-label "Blue Flag”, has accorded the Blue Flag Certification for 2 new beaches this year –Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry beaches.
- Foundation for Environment Education in Denmark (FEE) which accords the globally recognized eco-label - Blue Flag certification, has also given re-certification for 8 nominated beaches Shivrajpur-Gujarat, Ghoghla-Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri-Karnataka, Kappad-Kerala, Rushikonda- Andhra Pradesh, Golden-Odisha and Radhanagar- Andaman and Nicobar, which were awarded the Blue Flag certificate last year.

India records close to 22% rise in export of agricultural and processed food products in April-August (2021-22)
According to the Quick Estimates released by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), India has achieved a significant increase of 21.8 percent in export of agricultural and processed food products in the 2021-22 (April-August) in comparison to the corresponding period of 2020-21.
- The overall export of APEDA products increased from USD 6485 million in April-August 2020 to USD 7902 million in April-August 2021.
- According to WTO’s trade map, with the total agri-exports of USD 37 billion in the year 2019, India is ranked at 9th position in the world ranking
- In April-August 2020-21, fresh fruits and vegetables were exported to the tune of USD 1013 million which rose to USD 1075 million in April-August 2021-22.
- The export of rice, which recorded a positive growth of 13.7 percent, increased from USD 3359 million in April-August 2020 to USD 3820 million in April-August 2021.
- The export of other cereals increased from USD 157 million in April-August 2020 to USD 379 million in April-August 2021 and the export of meat, dairy and poultry products increased from USD 1185 million in April-August 2020 to USD 1554 million in April-August 2021.
APEDA is continuing with the initiative of conducting Virtual Buyer Seller Meets (VBSM) with potential importing Countries to popularize the GI products of major agricultural commodities exported.
First Advance Estimates of production of major Kharif crops for 2021-22 have been released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
As per First Advance Estimates for 2021-22 (Kharif Only), total foodgrain production in the country is estimated at record 150.50 million tonnes which is higher by 12.71 million tonnes than the average foodgrain production of previous five years’ (2015-16 to 2019-20).
As per First Advance Estimates, the estimated production of major kharif crops for 2021-22 is as under:
- Food grains – 150.50 million tonnes. (record)
- Rice – 107.04 million tonnes.(record)
- Nutri / Coarse Cereals – 34.00 million tonnes.
- Maize – 21.24 million tonnes.
- Pulses – 9.45 million tonnes.
- Tur – 4.43 million tonnes.
- Oilseeds – 23.39 million tonnes.
- Groundnut – 8.25million tonnes.
- Soyabean – 12.72 million tonnes.
- Cotton – 36.22 million bales (of 170 kg each) (record)
- Jute & Mesta –9.61 million bales (of 180 kg each)
- Sugarcane – 419.25 million tonnes (record)
National conference on Agriculture for Rabi campaign 2021 held through video conference
The objective of this conference was to review and assess the crop performance during the preceding crop season and fix crop-wise targets for Rabi season in consultation with State Governments
- In case of Oilseeds, 2.14 lakh seed Minikits (Soybean, Groud Nut & Sesamum) have been distributed during Kharif 2021-22 and 8.67 lakh seed Minikits (Mustard, Ground Nut, Linseed & Safflower) have been allocated for Rabi 2021-22
- This will result in increase the area of oil palm by 6.5 lakh hectares to reach 10.00 lakh hectares by 2025-26 (out of which 3.22 lakh hectares is for the Rest of India and 3.38 lakh hectares for the North East), and 16.71 lakh ha by 2029-30. Crude palm oil (CPO) production is expected to increase to 11.20 lakh tonnes in 2025-26 and up to 28.11 lakh tonnes in 2029-30.
