Ministry of Education organises a National webinar on Technology in Education: NDEAR

  • The theme for webinar was “Technology in Education: NDEAR”
  • National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) comes with a vision to create a unifying national digital infrastructure to energise and catalyse the education ecosystem. 
  • 8th of September was declared by UNESCO as International Literacy Day to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies.
  • The theme of World Literacy Day for the year 2021 is ‘Literacy for a human-centred recovery: Narrowing the digital divide’

PMGDISHA and CSCs have emerged as the enablers for digital literacy

  • Minister of State for Electronics & IT, graced today the ‘Launch Program of PMGDISHA Drive & Announcement of 100% Digital Literacy of all digital villages’ under AzadiKaAmritMahotsav.
  • The PMGDISHA drive has been launched under PMGDISHA scheme, a flagship Digital Literacy scheme of the Government for rural areas. 
  • The Government of India introduced its flagship Digital Literacy Programme, “Pradhan MantriGramin Digital SakshartaAbhiyan (PMGDISHA)” in February, 2017. 
  • The Scheme envisages to make six crore persons in rural areas, across States/UTs, digitally literate, reaching to around 40% of rural households by covering one member from every household where there is no digitally literate person.

India, ADB sign $300 million loan to expand rural connectivity in Maharashtra

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India today signed a $300 million loan as additional financing to scale up improvement of rural connectivity to help boost rural economy in the state of Maharashtra.
  • The additional financing for the ongoing Maharashtra Rural Connectivity Improvement Project will help improve an additional 1,100 rural roads and 230 bridges for a total length of 2,900 kilometers (km) in 34 districts.
  • ADB Established in 1966, it is owned by 68 members—49 from the Asia-Pecific.

India, ADB sign $112 million loan to improve water supply infrastructure in Jharkhand

  • The Government of India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) today signed a $112 million loan to develop water supply infrastructure and strengthen capacities of urban local bodies (ULBs) for improved service delivery in four towns in the state of Jharkhand.
  • Four water treatment plants, with a combined capacity of 275 million liters per day, will be established in the project towns to provide safe drinking water meeting the national drinking water quality standards.

Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, the Government of India has entered into a Ceasefire Agreement with National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K) Niki Group, with effect from 08th September, 2021 for a period of one year and more than 200 cadres of this group along with 83 weapons joined the peace process.
