BRICS-Agricultural Research Platform operationalized

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar today announced the operationalization of BRICS Agricultural Research Platform prepared and set up in India for strengthening the cooperation in the field of agricultural research & innovations amongst the BRICS member States. 

  • The Minister was addressing the 11th meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers under the theme BRICS Partnership for Strengthening Agro Biodiversity for Food Security and Nutrition.
  • The BRICS-ARP has been operationalized to intensify cooperation in the areas of agricultural research, technology, policy, innovations and capacity building
  • The Coordinating Centre of the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform is housed at NASC Complex, Pusa under the governance of Department of Agricultural Research & Education/ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. 

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh Unveils Army Sports Institute Stadium Named After Neeraj Chopra

  • In the unveiling ceremony, he named the Army Sports Institute stadium in Pune as “Neeraj Chopra Stadium”.
  • The Indian Army’s “Mission Olympics” programme was launched in 2001 with an intent to deliver medal winning performances in Olympics and other international events.
  • The focus of the Indian Army is to identify and train promising sportspersons in 11 disciplines. Mission Olympics of Indian Army through Army Sports Institute has been spearheading this initiative of the Army.

BRICS Environment Ministers adopt the New Delhi Statement on Environment.

  • The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will host the 2020 UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15) in Kunming, China, on 17-30 May 2021.
  • The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference. It is scheduled to be held in the city of Glasgow, Scotland between 1 and 12 November 2021, under the presidency of the United Kingdom

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurates new Central Secretariat building at Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh

  • Built by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) at the cost of Rs 66.91 Crore, it will accommodate 15 Central Government departments, saving rental outflow of Rs 4 Crore annually.

Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurates "Karmayogi" Digital Learning Facility at ISTM, Delhi

Dr Jitendra Singh today inaugurated the "Karmayogi" Digital Learning Facility for Civil Servants at the Institute of Secretariat Training & Management (ISTM), a premier Central Training Institution under the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

  • He said the Government’s most ambitious reform ‘Mission Karmayogi’ is meant to upgrade the skills of Central Government officers and personnel.
  • Path-breaking initiative has been taken to shift the working and functioning of the Civil Servants from ‘Rule to Role’

What is Mission Karmayogi?

The National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (‘NPCSCB’) – “Mission Karmayogi” was approved by the Government on 2nd September, 2020 with the objective of enhancing governance through Civil Services Capacity Building. 

  • Mission Karmayogi programme will be delivered by setting up a digital platform called iGOTKarmayogi
  • NPCSCB will be governed by the Prime Minister’s Human Resource Council, which will also include state Chief Ministers, Union Cabinet ministers and experts.
  • Also, there will be a Capacity Building Commission, which will include experts in related fields and global professionals.
  • Finally, there will be a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which will govern the iGOT-Karmayogi platform. It will be set up under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.
  • The SPV will be a “not-for-profit” company and will own and manage iGOT-Karmayogi platform

How will it be funded?

  • To cover around 46 lakh central employees, a sum of Rs 510.86 crore will be spent over a period of 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.

FDI equity inflow grows by 168% in the first three months of F.Y. 2021-22

  • India has attracted total FDI inflow of US$ 22.53 billion during first three months of 2021-22, i.e. April, 2021 to June, 2021 which is 90% higher as compared to first three months of 2020-21 (US$ 11.84 billion).
  • FDI equity inflow grew by 168% in the first three months of F.Y. 2021-22 (US$ 17.57 billion) compared to the year ago period (US$ 6.56 billion).
  • ‘Automobile Industry’ has emerged as the top sector during the first three months of F.Y. 2021-22 with 27% share of the total FDI Equity inflow followed by Computer Software & Hardware (17%) and Services Sector (11%) respectively.
  • Under the sector `Automobile Industry’, majority of FDI Equity inflow (88%) was reported in the state of Karnataka during the first three months of the current financial year (2021-22).
  • Karnataka is the top recipient state during the F.Y. 2021-22 (upto June, 2021) with 48% share of the total FDI Equity inflows followed by Maharashtra (23%) and Delhi (11%).

Government introduces a new registration mark for new vehicles  “Bharat series (BH-series)” to facilitate seamless transfer of vehicles

  • In order to facilitate seamless transfer of vehicles, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways vide notification dated 26 Aug 2021,  has introduced a new registration mark for new vehicles  i.e. “Bharat series (BH-series)”
  • A vehicle bearing this registration mark shall not require assignment of a new registration mark when the owner of the vehicle shifts from one State to another.

Format of Bharat series (BH-series) Registration Mark -

  • YY BH #### XX
  • Where, YY – Year of first registration,  BH- Code for Bharat Series, ####- 0000 to 9999 (randomized) and XX- Alphabets (AA to ZZ)
