According to the Guinness World Records official website, this pomelo weighed 5,386 grams and had a diameter of 27.15cm and a height of 23.1cm.

Chhattisgarh : Landless Families to Get Rs. 6000 per Year Through New Scheme
 
The state of Chhattisgarh has started a new scheme - Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumihin Krishi Majdur Nyay Yojana, which would provide Rs 6,000 rupees each year to landless families  in the state. 

The scheme would begin in the fiscal year 2021-22, with a budget provision of Rs 200 crore incorporated in the supplementary budget passed by the legislative assembly on Wednesday..

Families who do not own agricultural land and rely on agricultural labour or MGNREGA work for a living in rural areas will be paid a yearly stipend of 6,000 rupees under the scheme

Also barbers, dhobis, blacksmiths, and priests are among the rural populace who will be covered by the scheme.

London Receives GI-tagged ‘Bhoot Jolokia’ From Nagaland

In a major boost to exports of Geographical Indications (GI) products from the north-eastern region, a consignment of ‘Raja Mircha’ also referred as king chilli from Nagaland was today exported to London via Guwahati by air for the first time.

The consignment of King Chilli also considered as world’s hottest based on the Scoville Heat Units (SHUs). The consignment was sourced from Tening, part of Peren district, Nagaland and was packed at APEDA assisted packhouse at Guwahati. 

The chilli from Nagaland is also referred as Bhoot Jolokia and Ghost pepper. It got GI certification in 2008.

Nagaland King Chilli belongs to genus Capsicum of family Solanaceae. Naga king chilli has been considered as the world’s hottest chilli and is constantly on the top five in the list of the world's hottest chilies based on the SHUs.

APEDA Conducts Orientation Programme to Boost Agricultural Exports from Rajasthan

In a bid to boost the startup ecosystem for the promotion of agricultural product exports, APEDA in association with Agriculture University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized a programme where more than 430 farmers, students, traders and other stakeholders participated. 

The programme also discussed the export potential of commercial crops including Capparis Decidua , Acacia Senegal (kummat), Prosopia cenaraia (Sangari).

Besides the export potential of Cumin, Isabgol, Pomegranate, Anise seeds, Caster, Guargram, Hina etc were discussed. The programme emphasized the need for automation, mechanization in agriculture for achieving quality production which would enhance competitiveness in the international market.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that over 21.40 lakh farmers have so far registered under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY), a voluntary pension scheme for small and marginal farmers.
  • The pension yojana was introduced in 2019 to provide old age protection & social security.
  • Tomar in a written reply to the Lok Sabha said, "As on 23rd July 2021, a total of 21, 40, 262 farmers have joined the scheme".
  • As PM-KMY is a voluntary & contributory pension yojana, the minister said no specific target for enrolment was set for last year.
Government to Develop National Farmers Database by Using Digitized Land Records

  • Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told Parliament on Tuesday that the government plans to develop a federated National Farmers Database utilizing digitized land records to assist farmers receive proactive and personalized services.
  • The agricultural ministry has already started to work on developing 'Agristack,' a digital ecosystem for agriculture, in the country, which will aid the government in better planning for increasing farmer income and enhancing the efficiency of the agriculture sector as a whole. 
  • The agriculture ministry is working on a data strategy for the agriculture sector in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

About Agriculture Infrastructure Fund
  • The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund is a medium - long term debt financing facility for investment in viable projects for post-harvest management infrastructure and community farming assets through interest subvention and credit guarantee.
  • The duration of the scheme is 10 years till FY'2029. Under the scheme, Rs 1 lakh crore is provided by banks and financial institutions as loans with interest subvention of 3 per cent per annum and credit guarantee coverage up to Rs 2 crore.
  • Eligible beneficiaries include farmers, Farmer producer organizations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Cooperatives, Marketing Cooperative Societies, Self Help Groups, Joint Liability Groups (JLG), Multipurpose Cooperative Societies, Agri-entrepreneurs, 
Horticulture production hits record high at 329.86 million tonnes, says Agriculture Ministry
  • According to the second advance estimate of horticulture production released by the Ministry of Agriculture today, India is expected to have the highest ever horticulture production of 329.86 million tonnes in 2020-21, up by 2.93% over previous year. 
  • The increase in production has been registered in vegetables, spices, medicinal and aromatic crops. The Floriculture sector has been the hardest hit by the pandemic as production declined by 7.17%.
